Ted Hebbler is an impressionist painter who has transcribed beautiful landscapes in and around the Virgin Islands and West Indies on to canvas.
A native of New Orleans, he is a self taught artist. His creative fire was fueled by his companionship with Jazz artist Charlie Ward. The fuel caught fire and from then on the artist has produced beautiful Caribbean landscapes in acrylic and water colors.
In 1999 he went to the Virgin Islands for establishing and running two nuclear medicine labs. He lived at St. Croix for three and St. Thomas for four years. The mountains, forests and ocean fascinated him and he nurtured his passion to paint.
His work is characterized by vibrant and bold colors characteristic of the impressionist school of painting. He has also been inspired by the old school colonial architecture of New Orleans.
When he was living in the Caribbean, the natives there helped him in getting recognition. Around three hundred paintings were sold at a very fast pace.
Some of his paintings include
1 Creole bungalow New Orleans 2 Tree of life 3 Louisiana Swamp 4 African warriors 5 Oak Alley Plantation 6 A tribute to Vincent Van Gogh 7 Sprat Half Plantation St. Croix 8 Jackson square New Orleans 9 Creole Cottage French quarter 10 Sketch of Jackson Square And a number of other paintings.
He returned to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina struck and devastated the city. He preferred to contribute to the service of his country and its people rather than running a business on an island.
Presently his art is available on a commission basis using the Internet as a medium. His work can be observed at the Apple Barrel. This is one of his favorite hangouts with Charlie Ward. He admits that his passion for painting is a result of great friendship between him and Charlie.
