Some Cool Painting Techniques For Your Walls
Monochromatic walls are a thing of the times gone by. With the inception of numerous painting techniques, walls are being painted in all creative and stylish ways. Here are some of the most commonly used painting techniques for walls that will make your walls look uber chic and stylish.

Sponging
This is one of the most fun and easiest painting techniques to master. Paint your walls with a base coat and let it dry. Now dip a sponge in the color of your choice and start squeezing it against the walls. You could either sponge your wall in a single color or multiple colors. Make note that the color of the base coat should be darker than the colors used for sponging.

Combing
This is meant to give your walls a comb like texture. Combing is a great painting technique for those who want to lend an overall dramatic look to their walls. To create a combing effect on your wall, firstly paint the base color and let it dry. Now paint the texture color over this and run a comb through it. You could either choose to create straight lines with the combing technique or paint abstract patterns with this painting technique.

Ragging
This is quite similar to sponging but this painting technique gives you the opportunity to paint varied textures. Dip a rag in the paint of your choice and dab it against the wall. If you want to create a soft and romantic feel then try to use as less paint as possible. However, if you want a more dramatic effect, use more of paint. You could create different kind of textures by experimenting with plastic bag, cloths, paper, canvas and the like.

Crackling
As the name suggests, this one makes your wall look crackled. For this you need to apply a base coat on your walls followed by a crackle faux finish. Once it dries, paint another coat of crackle faux finish. The paint will start crackling in a few minutes and allow your base color to come through.

Color washing
If you want to add depth to your wall and make it more interesting then this one is the best technique for sure. You simply need to paint your walls with a base color and let it dry overnight. Now use two or more colors for color washing. All you need to do is paint random strokes with these colors. Use colors that are contrasting to each other to create a dramatic effect. Or you could use similar color tones to create a subtle effect.

Try these painting techniques and you are sure to transform those old walls completely.
